Every year during the Christmas season, the Philippines has its own version of the Oscars called the Metro Manila Film Festival. Similar enough, the MMFF also has an awards night wherein the criteria are ever-changing, and most awards are given with no basis. The MMFF season is that one time of the year when all the cinemas in the country show these MMFF official entries. The MTRCB and other actors and actresses say that this is a way of supporting Philippine cinema as it is currently dying and losing out to Hollywood films. The intention is good, but if you would see these films, you would definitely rush to Divisoria, buy a pirated DVD-copy of a Hollywood film and watch it at home. All the movies in the MMFF remind you why the Philippine film industry is dying, and why people would much prefer watching Hollywood movies. Read more of this post

As Girls Aloud members pursued their solo projects, Cheryl Cole found massive success with her mediocre albeit catchy tunes due to some big promotion from The X Factor while Nadine Coyle didn’t pretty much fare well with Insatiable due to poor PR. Can Nicola Roberts catch up though?

Glee has turned itself from an in-depth show to a charttopping monster. The show seems to be more focused on having songs chart in the Billboard Hot 100 than deepening the show’s plot. Filled with unnecessary guest stars, the show has sunk. The finale proved how the storyline has not really progressed that much and some stories left unanswered such as Quinn Fabray’s plan in NYC.

Traditional country singer Scotty McCreery trumped country-pop singer Lauren Alaina on over 122 million votes in total in the 10th season of the American Idol finale. The results come in no surprise as Dial Idol had already ranked Scotty safe and the one with the highest votes since Semi-final week.

The Reproductive Health Bill has been causing a lot of fuss in the Philippines lately. The Church and other supporters of them say that RH should be trashed while some Filipinos consider RH as a Bill that needs to be passed so as to rid this country of some of its problems. I’m one of those who say RH should be passed.
